CHINESE LANGUAGE CAMP
Learn the language and the culture from one of the oldest civilizations in the world. 2019 summer camps were filled with food, fun and friendships, with the added bonus of doing these activities while learning Chinese. Middlingo is excited to offer two week long summer camps in 2020 with language instruction and outdoor summer camp activities in Chinese. Weeks 1 is a half day camp targeting children ages 4-7. Week 2 is a full day camps for 8 - 12 year olds. Previous knowledge of Chinese language is not required, all abilities welcome. Camps will begin and end at the Bridge School in Middlebury, VT.

Week 1
June 8 - 12
Chinese 101| Mini Ni Hao
Half day camp for ages 4-7
Start from scratch and learn Chinese. Introduction to simple conversations, greetings, counting, colors, basic vocabulary through children's songs games. Outdoor exploration time and introduction to new or different foods included. Come with an open mind and ready to learn and play.
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
COST: $150 if full payment is received by June 1, $175 after.

Week 2
June 15-19
Chinese Zodiac|Folklore of Ancient China
Explore the folklore behind the selection of animals and its relation to celebrating the Lunar New Year and other famous Chinese fables and tales.
Mornings: Further Chinese characters acquisition, reading, and writing, conversations. Cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy and watercolors, puppet making, and theater performance.
Afternoons: Continue to practice spoken and listening comprehension through outdoor activities.
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
COST: $250 if full payment is received by June 1, $275 after.

Week 3
July 8- 12
Chinese Zodiac|Mini Ni Hao
Half day camp for ages 4-7
Explore the folklore behind the selection of animals and its relation to celebrating the Lunar New Year. Learn vocabulary related to animals, nature, and food. Some local field trips included, by bus or on foot.

Week 4
July 15 - 19
Chinese Food| Exploring the Culinary Art
Discover Chinese food beyond fried rice and spring rolls. Learn to write Chinese characters for common menu items, play games to reinforce lessons, shop and prepare Chinese food, and practice Chinese eating etiquette.
Afternoons: Continue to practice Chinese while on outdoor activities, local plant and vegetable identification in Chinese, shopping excursion for ingredients, cooking Chinese food indoors and outdoors.
